Mino Paper

Ieda Paper Craft was established 1889 in Mino city, which is located in the center of Japan close to Nagoya. Since the beginning Ieda Paper is known for the production of handmade Japanese paper. It is still owned by the 4th generation of the Ieda family. Recently Ieda paper launched the 1/100 brand to connect craft with art. Products in the 1/100 brand combine traditional craft techniques with contemporary designs.

One of the most successful products of the 1/100 brand are Mizu uchiwa hand fans. The word Mizu uchiwa literally means "water fan" and refers to the almost transparent look of the paper, which is coated with natural vanish. In the past Mizu uchiwa were also dipped into water to create additional cooling from the evaporation of the water from the surface of the fan.

Paper snowflakes also are a very popular product of the 1/100 brand. The texture of the Mino paper is smooth, flexible and durable and the smooth borders remind the crystals of snow. It therefore makes perfect snowflakes that stick at windows just by spraying water into the paper. The paper snowflakes are later easily be removed and re-used for many times. Mino paper snowflakes therefore not only a very beautiful but also ecological and economical decoration.
