Edo Kiriko is a traditional colored glass craft of Tokyo developed during the Edo period. First a glassblower blows clear glass into a paper-thin shape of colored glass and then rotates it to make the overall form. The result is a two-layer structure with colored glass on the outside and clear glass on the inside.Edo Kirikokan (江戸切子館) is a gallery shop for Edo Kiriko cut glass. Edo Kirikokan produces in its own cutting studio attached to the gallery and also represents a group of independent craftsmen. It is run by the Hirota family, which is in the glass business since 1899.
