This wind chime, or "Furin" in japanese, has a classic occidental bell shape the slightly green color is the natural color of the metal after being burn and shape. The base of the bell has been work on for finishing details and thus it has the marks of raw material without superficial addition. Just like many Japanese craft it is beautiful in its simplicity.

You have the possibility to customize the paper wind catcher by adding a message or Japanese characters. These will be handwritten using a Japanese calligraphy brush.

Kashiwagi Art Foundry  

The history of the foundry industry in Odawara dates back centuries. The book, Shinpen Sagaminokuni Fudokiko, notes that Yamada Jirozaemon opened a foundry in Odawara in 1534. This is considered the origin of the first foundry in Odawara.

In 1686 the Kashiwagi family relocated to Odawara. The family opened a foundry and became Odawara's renowned maker of sound instruments called sahari made using compression casting techniques.

The Kashiwagi family nowadays still is the leading producer of Odawara casting.

A great point with the Odawara Furin is the possibility of choosing the color of the Tanzaku, the piece of paper hanging from the bell which catches the wind.
