Founded in Tokyo in 1899, Hirota Glass has established itself as one of the pioneers of Japanese Glassware. They have created their own signature style combining Japanese traditional craftsmanship with European designs.
They designed these glass straws in response to the demand for more eco-friendly products, both in- and outside of Japan. It is estimated that in the USA alone approximately 500 million straws are used and disposed of every day. More durable options such as stainless steel and bamboo have become increasingly popular over the years; but with the one becoming uncomfortably hot- or cold depending on the beverage, and the latter quickly producing mold on the inside, where you cannot spot it, glass straws might very well be the best alternative thus far.
Affordable, fashionable and durable, you can enjoy using these straws for a long time to come. The 15 cm option is ideal for smaller tumblers containing approximately 300ml.
Rienzome is the brand name of traditional cloth maker TODAYA, established in 1872, currently run by the 6th generation. ‘Rien’ means the people of Kabuki and traditional dancing, and the brand name therefore refers to this world as they have always loved and cherished the art of tenugui.
Rienzome uses 100% cotton and hand-dyes all their tenugui and yukata’s (summer kimono) according to traditional chusen dyeing method.
