Greater Nagoya Area
Central Japan is also called the greater Nagoya area consisting of the Gifu, Mie and Aichi prefectures. It also is an area with a lot of history. Nagoya was an important castle city which developed an entire ecosystem of crafts and arts proprietary to the region.
Local crafts include various types of ceramics, lacquer ware, Japanese paper, cloisonne and many others. It also is well known for food specialties made of shrimps as well as sake rice wine due to the high quality of local rice and water.
