BENRIDO was established in 1887 in Kyoto, where they have been specializing in Collotype printing since 1905. With over a century of experience in the craft, they are one of the very few Collotype studios left, and the world’s only one that produces full-color photographic Collotype prints.

The traditional Japanese painting with flying cranes beautifully shows the different levels of gradations possible with this traditional printing style.

Tsuru Shitae Waka Kan - Anthology with Cranes

A miracle collaboration work "Important Cultural Property Tsuruzu Shimoe Wakamaki" (Kyoto National Museum collection) by Tawaraya Sotatsu, the founder of the Rinpa school, and Hon'ami Koetsu, who is called "Kanei's Sanpitsu". In the original, which is 13 meters long, Sotatsu takes off and dances in a group of cranes, and on a sketch depicting the long flight until he returns to the shore and rests his wings, thirty known as an excellent Japanese classic. The Japanese poem of Rokukasen is written in a dynamic book that emphasizes the depth and detail of Koetsu.

The cranes, also known as the ancient Mizutori, are drawn using gold and silver, so it is perfect for celebrations and fortune scenes, and it is highly recommended as a gift for loved ones. It is also good to unfold your favorite scene and decorate it as your home interior.

With over a century of experience in the craft, they are one of the very few Collotype studios left, and the world’s only one that produces full-color photographic Collotype prints. They have won several awards and recognitions and have been responsible for many big art works and projects in Japan and abroad.
