Yamaguchi Kyujo, founded in 1907, is an expert in producing Buddhist object and altar fillings and specializes in beautiful Orin products. Having years of experience and knowledge on the traditional products, they have now incorporated modern designs in order to boost the products with the younger generation and international market. First the metal is molded; this requires a lot of strength and reaches very high temperatures. Next, the object is shaved in the desired form. Next, they are carefully polished and finally, engraved and/or hand decorated. Lastly, in case of the more complex designs, the sound object is assembled with the rest of the design. The entire process requires many steps and the know-how and careful consideration of highly trained craftsmen.     

Yamaguchi Kyujo’s specialty, ‘Kyujo Orin’, combines those tremendous efforts to create a warm, relaxing sound that can last up to one minute, even when tinkled softly. Research has even suggested that the flow of alpha ways have a healing effect on the brain.
