This simple, yet beautiful stand for uchiwa is made from a special kind of bamboo called 'gomadake' (胡麻竹), which literally means “sesame bamboo”. The subtle coloring and fine grain of this particular type of bamboo, grown in Japan, give the stand a delicate elegance which matches perfectly the round shape of the uchiwa. It is ideal for displaying any uchiwa fan. 

The stand is 30 cm long and 7 cm wide. It is extremely light, which means that it can be laid horizontally, or hung up vertically, e.g. on a wall.
