Kinshodo specializes in Arita ware. Arita ware is a Japanese style of porcelain crafts that originated in the Southern Saga perfection of Japan. Near the end of the 16th century, porcelain clay was discovered near Arita city and this started the porcelain production in Japan. Their elegant shapes, Western shapes and Chinese inspired designs quickly became popular both in- and outside of Japan and the name "Arita Ware" (also Imari ware) quickly spread internationally and were shipped from the Dutch outpost in nearby city Nagasaki. In 1977 it was officially recognized as an official traditionally Japanese craft.
Arita ware is known for being light, thin, solid and with a feeling that almost resembles glass. It is durable and water absorbent - making for great tableware.
LIN - The LIN collection was produced to celebrate the 400 year porcelain industry's anniversary and was created to compete on an international level with innovative designs. The name LIN, sounding like the metallic sound that fits the collection's look, is derived from a renowned porcelain painter in the early 1900 that build the foundation of Kinshodo and won several prices with his outstanding craftsmanship and visionary designs.
After many attempts the LIN collection has managed to capture a metal-like look, unique texture and magical colors that change per angle and nightfall - all while being produced the authentic Arita way!
KINSHODO is a maker of Arita porcelain. Aritaware is one of Japan’s most famous ceramics from Southern Japan.
Products from KINSHODO combine modern shapes with unique metallic colors. Although the colors look metallic they do not include metal, so that the ceramics can be used in the microwave.
