Founded in Tokyo in 1899, Hirota Glass has established itself as one of the pioneers of Japanese Glassware. They have created their own signature style combining Japanese traditional craftsmanship with European designs. Each of the Edokiriko sets contains a glad and matching lid. The patterns in the glass are cut and aligned in a way that they can be enjoyed from any angle. The series consists of seven different glasses.

The cups can be used as drinking cups, as well as extraordinarily beautiful candle holders that will reflect the light through the detailed patterns!

Edo Kiriko is a traditional colored glass craft of Tokyo developed during the Edo period. First a glassblower blows clear glass into a paper-thin shape of colored glass and then rotates it to make the overall form. The result is a two-layer structure with colored glass on the outside and clear glass on the inside.

Edo Kirikokan (江戸切子館) is a gallery shop for Edo Kiriko cut glass. Edo Kirikokan produces in its own cutting studio attached to the gallery and also represents a group of independent craftsmen. It is run by the Hirota family, which is in the glass business since 1899.

HIROTA GLASS was founded back in 1899 as a glassware tableware store in Tokyo. About fifteen years later they started to actually produce Kiriko cut glasses, making a foundation for their core business today.

Hirota Glass has over time established itself as a pioneer in the Japanese Handmade Glassware industry and has become well known and awarded for their signature style; combining European traditional glassmaking techniques with Japanese traditional post-war designs.
