Kabazaiku is a uniquely Japanese art form that used the national tree, Sakura, and turns its bark into beautiful, long lasting products. There are about five companies remaining who still master the traditional, complex art form that was passed down from generation to generation. One of these companies is TOMIOKA SHOTEN.
The designer is a baseball fan and named his craft after a technique in baseball - as the design fuses two different plates that seemingly slide over one another. It is a beautiful, decorative plate that can be used to serve sweets, as well as serve as a saucer or coaster.
