This cherry bark tea container has been decorated with wooden inlays featuring sakura cherry blossoms. It has a cute, traditional Japanese design using the cherry bark crafts typical for Akita prefecture in the North of Japan. Coating tea containers with cherry bark is said to protect the tea inside the container from air and humidity as it is impermeable.

There are about five companies remaining who still master the traditional, complex art form that was passed down from generation to generation. One of these companies is TOMIOKA SHOTEN.
