Monaka is a type of Wagashi ("Japanese sweets") existing of Azuki sweet bean paste filling in between two shells made from mochi (rice). With these beautiful shells you can make your own Monaka at home. Fill them the traditional way with Azuki bean paste, or experiment with custard, jam, chestnut or ice cream!
