The result is a not-too sweet plum wine that also has a slight notion of bitterness from the brown sugar. The brand name "NAGAREUME" literally means floating ume. The word "KOKUTO" means brown sugar.
This umeshu plum wine is made with sake. The plums and the rock sugar are soaked in the sake for about a year. On the first sip there is a notion of sake, from the second sip onwards it will have a not-too sweet and fruity flavor. The aftertaste then has a very strong and long lasting notion of ume plum.
